Meet Coach Claire 

Founder, The Boston Coaching Project

Claire Martin-Doyle is a nationally recognized rowing coach, educator, and mentor with over 17 years of experience leading one of the most competitive collegiate programs in the country. As Head Coach of the MIT Lightweight Women’s Rowing team from 2006 to 2023, she guided the program to historic success — including MIT’s first-ever Division I Championship in 2022.

Under her leadership, MIT became a national powerhouse in lightweight rowing, earning medals at the Head of the Charles Regatta (🥈2019, 🥇2021), and winning four Dad Vail Championships, including three consecutive Lightweight Eight titles (2014–2016).

Coach Claire has deep expertise in college recruiting, having spent nearly two decades evaluating and recruiting student-athletes at the highest academic and athletic levels. She now brings that knowledge to families through The Boston Coaching Project, helping students build a clear, confident, and personalized path to college athletics.

Throughout her coaching career, Claire mentored:

3 All-American athletes

Over 100 CRCA and IRA scholar-athletes

3 MIT athletes who advanced to the U.S. National Team and competed at the Rowing World Championships.

She holds a M.Ed. in Kinesiology and Sports Psychology from Temple University, and previously trained as an elite lightweight rower at Vesper Boat Club while coaching high school athletes in Philadelphia.

Claire’s rowing journey began in Buffalo, NY, where she rowed for Nardin Academy and became a Scholastic National Champion. She later competed at the 1998 NCAA Women’s Rowing Championships as a four-year varsity athlete at Georgetown University, where she earned a B.S. in Business Administration and the John Carroll Spirit Award.

Today, through The Boston Coaching Project, Claire is committed to empowering student-athletes and their families to navigate the recruiting process with clarity, strategy, and purpose.
