BSRA Youth Summer Camps

Ages 12-16

Rowing is the ultimate team sport! It teaches you about communication, leadership and character. Rowers will learn about time management and dedication so they can have respect for themselves, their teammates, coaches and family. Rowing is a sport that you can do for the rest of your life, it will challenge you physically and mentally. It's an excellent aerobic and anaerobic workout without the risk of many injuries so participants of all ages are welcome! On top of all of this, rowing brings people together for life-long friendships.

During this summer camp, participants will become rowers. They will learn the lingo, how to get in and out of a boat, how to use an oar, how to carry boats and oars, and work with a large team and what it means to be a teammate. This camp is for ages 12-16 years old, athletes of all sizes welcome, no experience necessary. Registrants should bring water in a reusable bottle, sunscreen, a packed lunch and extra weather appropriate clothing. $250/session. If you sign up for the 2nd and/or 3rd sessions, you will receive a $50 discount to each session. Need-based scholarships available. 

Please read the descriptions of the programs below, in order to pick the appropriate option for the athlete.

Learn to Row

Youth Learn-to-Row is our standard introductory rowing program:

  • Row in large boats - 8 rowers
  • Stable boats to learn the basics
  • Learn how to sweep (1 oar/rower)
  • Work together in a team environment 

Modified Sculling

This program is a step beyond LTR. It is recommended a new rower starts with LTR, but is not required to.

  • Row in small boats (usually 1-2 people)
  • Requires better balance than LTR
  • Learn how to scull (2 oars/rower)
  • Work on challenges individually/with a partner

Session 1:

July 6th-17th, Monday- Friday, 9am-2pm

LTR ONLY rowing summer camp

Session 2:

July 20th - July 31st, Monday-Friday, 9am-2p

LTR AND modified sculling summer camp

Session 3:

Aug. 3rd-18th, Monday-Friday, 9am-2pm

LTR AND modified sculling summer camp

The last Friday of each session will be a team race followed by pizza and water. Potluck items welcome too.

If you require financial assistance, please fill out the Scholarship form below and return to BSRA before the first day of camp. Please do not fill out the registration form if you have submitted for financial assistance.
